This is an original banner from the Elvis´ Summer Festival at the Hilton Hotel in 1972. Similar banners from other engagement exist, too. These types of banners were used to decorate the hotel lobby and announced that Elvis was thrilling thousand of fans from any country of the world in the showroom again. As I never had the chance to see the King live on stage in Vegas, I´m not sure how many banners had been made for an individual engagement, but maybe there have been five or ten of each variation. Due to the very limited quantity of banners that have ever been made by the Colonel for the several engagements at the Hotel, any banner is and was extraordinary rare and maybe they are even unique by now, as time took its toll. For this reason any banner is highly collectible and a fantastic eyecatcher in any serious Elvis collection and you should never miss a chance to obtain such an collectible, because I can assure you that you will never get it offered again in your whole life. Actually, Graceland is offering one similar banner from the January / February engagement in 1972 with a price tag of 10.000$ on it. The banner pictured above measures approx. 24” x 83” and was made of heavy canvas and is printed with white, red, blue and black oil paint. As this banner was only made to use it a few weeks and not for eternity, it shows some typical wear of age.
