This is the highly sought after and hard to find mispressing of Elvis second album, simply named Elvis. It contains an alternate version (take 5) of Old Shep wich
wasn´t released on any other authorized LP prior the 1992 LP/CD box set The Complete 50´s Masters. The matrix number on side 2 is the first important mark to identify the mispressing. This LP has the
stamped numbers G2 WP7207-17S and G2 WP7208-17S and to become certain, the song was finally identified alternate by listening to it. As the general Elvis
LP, this one was released in the United States in November 1956, shortly after Elvis´ record breaking and legendary performances at the Ed Sullivan Show. RCA Victor made 12(!) different cover variations
for this album. All backsides of the covers picture several records made by RCA at various combinations. Only one cover variation pictured no records on the backside. Only liner notes were printed on the backside
instead. This is the hardest to find cover. The here pictured copy has still the original inner sleeve. A portion of it is pictured above. As you can see by yourself, the over all impression of both, vinyl and cover, is
really great. You can imagine how long it will take until you will see such an excellent copy again. |
