COLLECTIBLES FROM GIRL HAPPY

MGM - EUTERPE PRODUCTION - April 1965

England - Movie Stills - Color

These three color movie stills from Girl Happy were printed and published by the british MGM in 1966. The stills have the movie numbers 65/64 and measure approx. 10” x 8”. Each still has an embossed seal in the top right corner. Actually, I can´t say if the scenes deviate from the original american stills, but in this case their value would be much higher!
Value: 15 - 20 US$ (each)

USA - Set of 22 Movie Stills - b/w

This is a fantastic set of 22 movie stills for Elvis´ 17th movie. The stills measure approx. 10” x 8” and most of them have an embossed seal in their top left or right corner. Due to the fact that Elvis released about three films each year in the mid sixties, Girl Happy just ranked at #25 in the Variety list of top grossing films in 1965. Jackie Coogan, who played Sergeant Benson, also worked with Charlie Chaplin and is, still today, best known as Uncle Vester from the original Addams Family. The movie also costarred Gary Crosby who is the son of entertainer Bing Crosby. Please click on the pictures to view the entire set of stills.
Value: 15 - 20 US$ (each)

Germany - Werberatschlag - Press Book & Lobby Cards (revival)

Hardly recognized by most collectors worldwide is the fact, that the movie companies also manufactured promotional material after Elvis´ death when they re-released many of his movies. This very hard to find press book by Warner-Columbia Film was likely printed and published in 1977 and might even be a much more rare thing than a press book from the first run, as this one also includes a rare set of five colorfull lobby cards. The fold-out press book and the cards measure 8 1/4 x 12”. Tickle Me was one of Elvis most succesful movies and prevented Allied Artists from their commercial failure. Please click on the picture to have a closer look at the lobby cards.
Value: 15 -20 US$      (each lobby card)
Value : 110 - 150 US$ (complete set)
